These days, attaining certain goals often equates to saving up a substantial amount of money. Whether it's watching a concert of your favorite musical act, getting the latest smartphone model, or going on a weekend getaway, your finances play a significant role in achieving these objectives. However, saving up enough money may feel like a daunting task because of the competing demands of everyday life. As an adult, you have plenty of other financial responsibilities, after all. Fortunately, in today’s age of online digital banking, managing your finances and saving money for your goals have never been more convenient.
Maya, the leading digital bank in the Philippines, offers valuable solutions tailored to meet the needs of modern consumers. Beyond traditional banking products, we provide innovative tools to help you take full control of your finances and work toward your goals. One such tool is Personal Goals, a powerful budgeting tool, which is designed to empower users to save more conveniently and achieve their financial objectives.
What Is Maya Personal Goals?
Maya Personal Goals feature is a powerful tool that enables you to save money for the finer things in life. This innovative budgeting tool allows you to open a goal-based savings account that is separate and distinct from your Maya Savings account.
Each Personal Goals account you set up is assigned its own account number. This is very helpful in keeping each fund separate and distinct from the others based on their specific purposes. Additionally, you can keep your money for up to six months while it earns interest. This gives you ample time to save up and increase your money’s value in the process.
What Makes Maya Personal Goals the Best Choice?
Aside from being a unique offering from our bank, Maya Personal Goals has several advantages. It allows you to earn significant interest on your savings, create multiple accounts for your different goals, and easily transfer funds to each goal.
Earn an Interest of 4% p.a. Credited Monthly for each Goal
When you start a Personal Goal with Maya, you can earn 4% p.a. credited monthly, significantly boosting your money’s value as you prepare for your goals. Keep in mind that this interest rate applies to a maximum personal goal balance of PHP 1 million, which is a pretty significant amount.
Set Up to Five Goals at the Same Time
You don’t have to limit yourself to just one goal at a time with Maya Personal Goals. This tool lets you create and personalize up to five different goal accounts simultaneously and work on them for up to 180 days, which is equivalent to about six months. This gives you plenty of time to set aside money whenever you have extra cash. Additionally, you can easily track your progress on each account from the Savings dashboard.
Use Your Money as You Please
Once you’ve reached your goal, it will be automatically transferred to your Maya Savings account. From there, you can spend the funds as you please or keep them in your account for safekeeping and to grow.
If you need your funds already, you can do so by simply going to the Accounts Details page and clicking on “Cancel my goal.” Then, the funds you have in there will be transferred to your Maya savings account for you to use. You’d also be glad to know that you will not be paying any fee when you do decide to use the money that you’ve saved in a goal before the intended target end date of the goal. You have access to and control of your money all of the time.
Deposit Funds Easily
There are multiple ways you can fund your Personal Goals. One of them is to deposit directly from your Maya Wallet and Maya Savings account, as well as other bank accounts and e-wallets like BPI, BDO, UnionBank, GCash, ShopeePay, and more. When you deposit from your Maya Wallet, it’s free and will reflect instantly in your Personal Goals. On the other hand, deposits from other banks and digital wallets will be processed through PESONet and InstaPay, along with their corresponding fees.
Step-By-Step Guide: Setting Up Maya Personal Goals
Setting up your personal goals on Maya is simple and intuitive:
Download the Maya App
To begin, download the Maya app from the App Store for Apple devices or Google Play if you’re using an Android. If you already have the app, make sure you’re using the latest version. Head to the Apple App Store or Google Play and search for Maya. Then, tap on the word “Update.”
Create a Personal Goal
Once you’ve downloaded the latest version of the Maya app, tap on it and log in. Go to the Savings dashboard and select “Create a personal goal now.” From here, you’ll be prompted to set up your goal. Make sure to fill out all the details, including the name of your goal, the due date, and the goal amount.
Set Up the Particulars of Your Personal Goals
When it comes to assigning a name for your personal goal, you can be specific to help visualize your goal. If you’re planning a trip to Japan this coming holiday season, you can put “2025 Japan Trip” as the name of the goal. If you simply want to set aside money from your monthly paycheck as part of your emergency fund, you can do so as well and name it “Rainy Day Funds.” You can be as creative or detailed as you want, as long as it allows you to distinguish each Personal Goal account from another.
Fund Your Personal Goals
After you’ve set up the goals, you can proceed with funding your Personal Goals by depositing from your Maya Savings account, Maya Wallet, or other banks.
