7 Best Theme Parks In Asia For Thrillseekers | Maya.ph

Everyone loves going to amusement parks every once in a while. Whether with family, friends, or significant other, these are the places we go to for thrills, excitement, and fun.

If you’re looking for a change of pace from Enchanted Kingdom and the other local theme parks, let’s take the adventure to the next level and explore our neighboring countries!

Here are some of the awesome parks* that should be on your to-visit list:

                                                                          *Arranged in no particular order.

#1  Dreamworld

Pathum Thani, Thailand

Dreamworld is widely known as “Bangkok’s most popular theme park“, and is built around the idea of turning kids’ dreams into reality. Want to make snow angels, climb a beanstalk and enter a supersized giant’s house, or brave a haunted mansion? Then this is definitely the place to be!

While most of the park is child-friendly, it still boasts a few hair-raising rides for the adults. There’s the Tornado, which will swing you around in circles at a height of 7 storeys, and the Sky Coaster, a  deconstructed roller coaster where riders are suspended in the air instead of seated within a car.

#2  Everland

Gyeonggi-do, South Korea

While South Korea has a lot of theme parks, Everland is definitely the largest. It’s divided into five main areas, including the hugely popular Zootopia, an enclosed exhibit of 201 species of animals like seals, tigers, and even a pair of Chinese Giant Pandas!

The park has dozens of rides, but their most famous attraction is the T-Express, the second tallest wooden roller coaster in the world.

#3  Leofoo Village

Hsinchu, Taiwan

Taiwan’s Leofoo Village is the most like our own Enchanted Kingdom, and is the destination of many school tours yearly.

It’s a combination of theme park and safari, with over 60+ rides (30 of which are roller coasters), daily performances like the main plaza’s musical water-dance shows, pony rides, a petting zoo, and a tiger enclosure featuring Mashisa, one of the 300 remaining white tigers in the world.

#4  Ocean Park

Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong

Ocean Park Hong Kong is a combination of a marine mammal park, oceanarium, animal theme park, and amusement park with a variety of attraction and rides for everyone. It’s divided into are two main areas namely the Summit, where all the thrill rides and the Polar Adventure is located, and the Waterfront, which contains the Grand Aquarium, the Old Hong Kong area, and the enclosure of the famous great panda duo Le Le and Ying Ying.

While you’re at the Summit, the 20-storey plunge of The Abyss and the virtual reality (VR) roller coaster experience of the Mine Train are a must-try!

#5  Sunway Lagoon

Selangor, Malaysia

Malaysia’s Sunway Lagoon is worthy of the name “megapark”, with a Water Park, an Amusement Park, a Wildlife Park, an Extreme Park, and a Scream Park within its grounds.

The Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, Asia’s first Nickelodeon-themed attraction, was added to it in November 2016. This section boasts its own roster of character-themed rides and waterslides, including the Spongebob Splash Adventure and the Hippo Valley!

You may even get the chance to meet and greet Spongebob and Patrick, if you’re lucky.

#6  Tokyo Disneyland

Chiba Prefecture, Japan

Tokyo Disneyland ranks high in the list of Asia’s famous theme parks. The original park has since expanded into several themed areas: World Bazaar, Adventureland, Westernland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Critter Country, and Mickey’s Toontown.

Aside from the Disney-themed rides that people of all ages can explore, take the time to enjoy big-name thrill rides like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad during your visit!

#7  Universal Studios

Sentosa, Singapore

If we’re listing must-visit Asian theme parks, we can’t ignore Universal Studios Singapore! It boasts 24 world-class rides, as well as seven areas with their own themed attractions and performances: Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away, and Madagascar.
