#1 Swipe on a waterproof primer before any makeup
You don’t have to head out the door with a full face of waterproof makeup products! Since primer goes on after moisturizer, having a waterproof primer as a base works wonders.

It’ll keep your other products from sliding off your face and serve as a sort of barrier between your skin and beauty products. Primer is a skincare product, after all.
#2 Set your makeup with setting spray
This isn’t a new tip—that’s all these sprays are for, and there are available alternatives for every skin type. However, most people just spray them on after applying a full face of makeup. While effective, it doesn’t maximize the use of the product.

Instead, opt to layer your setting spray: apply a few sprays after moisturizer, concealer and foundation, eyeshadow and contour, blush and highlighter. This acts to set the various layers of makeup individually, thus making it less likely to slide off.
Be sure to wait a few seconds for the spray to dry in between steps to keep from ruining your next makeup step!
#3 Dab on eye primer before applying eyeshadow
If your personal preference or the occasion calls for more elaborate eye makeup, it’s best to take extra precautions. An eye primer will help set powder eye shadows (particularly over a powder foundation) and make their colors pop in addition to helping the look last longer.
