The free version of Spotify will still let you listen to all the music you want. You can find music based on genre, your mood, and discover new songs especially recommended for you. But, the free version has occasional ads that interrupt you in between songs. There are also limits for the number of times you can skip music on mobile.
Spotify Premium lets you listen to the tracks you want on demand on multiple devices, non-stop, with no ads, just music. With Premium, you can also download the music so you can listen to your favorite songs and artists even if you’re not connected to the internet on your Wi-Fi or data. You can download up to 3,333 tracks on up to three devices so you can listen to music even when you’re on-the-road!
The best part? Premium will let you listen to music in HD. Spotify uses three different quality settings for streaming. The standard bitrate for mobile is 96kbps which is high quality, and 160 kbps for desktop, which is standard quality. With Premium, you’ll get full 320 kbps, high quality on desktop, and extreme quality on mobile.
We might not notice it, but a lot of the time the music we listen to is in low quality. With HD music, you’ll hear songs like you’ve never heard it before, in its full quality glory, the way your favorite artists want you to hear them.
Spotify will ask you to pay with a credit card for you to subscribe to premium. If you don’t have a credit card, you can use Maya to pay.
1. Get the Maya app on Google Play or the App Store.
2. Register for an account with your mobile number.
3. On the app home page, tap “Activate” to activate
4. You’ll get your own Maya details. Load up your Maya account, and you can use Maya to pay. (Read: How to load up your Maya)
5. Sign up for an account at Spotify, then enter your Maya details to get Spotify Premium
The subscription costs P129.00 per month. The Premium experience is definitely worth the price. To put it into perspective, it’s the same price as a coffee at Starbucks. So just skip out on one Starbucks coffee for the month, and get millions of HD music in return.
