Mercury Drug now accepts QR payments with PayMaya
A strategic collaboration to provide the best customer experience and accelerate digital payments
Mercury Drug Corp., the leading trusted and caring drugstore in the country, has announced its collaboration with PayMaya Philippines to offer consumers convenient, fast, and secure cashless payment options via PayMaya QR.
It is the first pharmacy-retail chain in the Philippines to begin accepting payment of medicines and other consumer goods via PayMaya QR. The scan-to-pay technology will be deployed in Mercury Drug’s branches nationwide.
“This partnership with PayMaya is another way for us to innovate and further improve on the experience of our suki customers. We are excited to be among the pioneers in embracing this cashless technology,” said Mercury Drug Corp. President Vivian Que-Azcona.
“This will also cut down the lines in our stores because there is no need to process loose change anymore,” said Mercury Drug Corp. Assistant to the President Steven Que Azcona.
“With our collaboration with Mercury Drug, one of the leading drugstore chains in the country, we are poised to accelerate the adoption of cashless payments in the country,” said Manuel V. Pangilinan, PLDT, Smart, Voyager Innovations and PayMaya Philippines Chairman.
“Making PayMaya QR as a payment option in-store is a key part of our major collaboration effort with Mercury Drug. We will roll out more initiatives in the coming months that will transform Mercury Drug customers’ experience,” said Orlando B. Vea, Voyager Innovations and PayMaya President and CEO.
Vea also noted that PayMaya’s alliance with one of the largest drugstore chains in the country keeps Voyager Innovations on track to achieve its goal of having 30 million clients by 2020. PayMaya Philippines is the digital financial arm of PLDT and Smart’s Voyager Innovation, the leading technology company focusing on emerging markets platforms.
“We are pleased to see more of our enterprise partners embracing cashless technologies with Paymaya. At PLDT, we support PayMaya’s thrust of enabling more businesses with digital payments, complemented by our connectivity and digital solutions,” said Vic Tria, PLDT Alpha First Vice President.
With PayMaya’s digital payments platforms consumers no longer need to carry a large amount of cash. It also helps them keep track of their expenses with its notification features.
Through PayMaya QR, customers only need to open their PayMaya app, press the “Scan” button, point their phone’s camera to the QR code displayed in Mercury Drug store counters, and enter the amount they need to pay to complete their transactions.
PayMaya has partnered with big local retailers for its QR technology. PayMaya Philippines is the country’s pioneer and leader in cashless payments. To know more about PayMaya’s products and services for consumers and businesses, visit www.paymaya.com.
